Description
The recurring identical floral pattern on this wall hanging is a mnemonic that has been passed down through generations, and now it finds a place of honour in your home. Handcrafted in Raghurajpur, Odisha, this traditional art form, called Pattachitra, finds inspiration in Indian mythology, and here pays homage to Lord Jagannath, the presiding deity of the state. Pattachitra resemble the old murals of Odisha dating back to the 5th century BC. The origin of paintings is traced to a moving legend in the Chitralakshana, the earliest known treatise on painting.
