The piece is an exploration of fusing traditional Indian portraiture with the expressive, impasto style of post-impressionism, particularly drawing from the texture and color contrast characteristic of Vincent van Gogh. I used thick applications of oil paint on linen canvas, utilizing a palette knife and heavy brushstrokes to build up a significant surface texture. The background is a highly dynamic mix of vibrant blue, turquoise, and complementary orange to create a feeling of movement and depth, contrasting the tranquil subject. I focused on the play of light on the white saree and the rich glow of the gold and turquoise jewelry, using high contrast and saturated color to intensify the emotional impact of the woman's pensive expression.
Ideally paintings don't require much care as its a vertical surface, hence dust doesn't settle quite easily. You can gently dry dust the painting once in a month. You can also gently use a slightly damp cloth and dab it gently over the surface to capture the dust particles. You can do this once in 6 months.
