A vivid Kathputli-inspired procession of patterned figures, glowing with folk colour, rhythm, and theatrical charm.
Rooted in the artist’s Kathputli series, the painting evokes Rajasthan’s traditional puppet theatre through a festive gathering of doll-like figures. Their painted faces, ornate dress, and staged closeness celebrate folk performance, craft, storytelling, and the communal spectacle of cultural memory.
The work uses a contemporary folk-art language with strongly outlined forms, flattened spatial depth, decorative costume motifs, and expressive facial features. Layered brushwork, energetic marks, and deliberately stylized proportions give the figures the handmade character of painted puppets and traditional Indian visual storytelling.
This lively painting would suit a living room, dining area, cultural centre, boutique hotel, creative studio, or colourful entryway. Its bold palette and folk character make it especially effective on a neutral wall, where it can become an immediate conversation piece and focal point. This artwork will complement any room or space beyond those mentioned, depending on individual preference.
The mood is festive, theatrical, and warmly communal. Although the figures appear still like puppets arranged for display, their vivid clothing and animated expressions create a sense of music, movement, and performance. The painting carries an affectionate, celebratory energy rooted in cultural tradition.
The composition is built as a tightly packed horizontal procession of figures, filling nearly the entire picture plane. Taller blue-clad forms anchor the right side, while red, purple, orange, green, and pink costumes create rhythmic variation across the centre and left. Overlapping silhouettes establish visual unity.
A brilliantly saturated palette dominates the surface, led by hot reds, magentas, oranges, emerald greens, deep purples, and luminous blues. Black outlines create sharp definition, while small white dotted patterns enliven the textiles. Dark background passages intensify the celebratory brightness of the costumes.
Kathputli Series is a original handmade painting made by Soyli saha. This painting is made with watercolor colors on paper. This artwork is signed by artist, and accompanied with the Certificate of Authenticity. The width of the painting is 16 inches, and its height is 12 inches.
