In this piece, I wanted to capture the essence of intimacy and connection in a time of isolation. The two figures are drawn in a style that is both ancient and modern, with large, expressive eyes that communicate their inner world. They are physically close, their faces nearly touching, yet they are also separated by the ubiquitous face masks and the wires of their technology.
The title of the piece is 'Love', which is meant to be a question as much as a statement. Can love and connection thrive even when our faces are covered and our attention is divided by screens and earbuds? The figures are linked by a single earphone wire, a visual metaphor for the fragile, shared connection they have in this new, detached world.
I used a pointillism style to create the image, building up texture and form with countless tiny dots. This technique emphasizes the painstaking effort required to build a connection, and the grainy texture reflects the inherent complexity and imperfect nature of human relationships. Ultimately, this work explores the quiet strength and enduring vulnerability of love as it adapts to a world that constantly changes around it.
Ideally paintings don't require much care as its a vertical surface, hence dust doesn't settle quite easily. You can gently dry dust the painting once in a month. You can also gently use a slightly damp cloth and dab it gently over the surface to capture the dust particles. You can do this once in 6 months.
Please do not use soap water, detergent, disinfectants or any chemicals over the painting as it might dissolve the colors. Paper and cloth paintings are usually framed with a glass on top, hence the artwork will remain intact. You would just need to clean the glass. Always keep artworks away from direct sunlight and also from walls having water leakage problem, - as both can damage it.
