I wanted to visually represent the internal struggle of skepticism. This face isn't just questioning the world around it; it's questioning itself. The title refers to the subject's expression, which is a mix of suspicion and introspection. One eye looks forward, almost critically, while the other seems to be rolling inward, as if lost in thought or disbelief. The downward turn of the mouth and the teardrop-like line below the eye add to a sense of underlying melancholy or confusion.
The shape of the face is intentionally off-kilter and asymmetrical, mirroring the feeling of being mentally unbalanced or unsure. The prominent forehead and the sharp, angular jawline give the figure a rigid, intellectual quality, as if the doubt is a constant, heavy thought.
I used a dense crosshatching technique to create a rich, textural surface. This serves as a metaphor for the countless layers of thoughts, experiences, and uncertainties that build up and shape our character.
