In 'The Predator,' I wanted to portray a creature that embodies a deep, ancient fear. This isn't a graceful animal; it's a monster. Its body is coiled into a threatening posture, its mouth is wide open, and its teeth are like serrated knives, ready to tear and consume. Its large, wide-set eyes stare out with a sense of empty, unfeeling hunger. The small, human-like hands and the fractured wings are a key element, suggesting a once-noble being that has been corrupted by a singular, consuming drive.
The background, a swirling mix of deep reds and browns, creates a powerful, visceral atmosphere, like a bloody battlefield or a suffocating landscape. The contrast between this aggressive backdrop and the pale, textured body of the creature makes the figure feel both menacing and strangely vulnerable.
I used a dense, crosshatched texture on the creature's body and wings, which adds to the feeling of a hardened, ancient being. This technique serves as a metaphor for the many layers of suffering and hunger that have shaped this creature into what it has become. Ultimately, 'The Predator' is a tragic meditation on the things that turn us into monsters and the emptiness that can remain even when we've had our fill.
Ideally paintings don't require much care as its a vertical surface, hence dust doesn't settle quite easily. You can gently dry dust the painting once in a month. You can also gently use a slightly damp cloth and dab it gently over the surface to capture the dust particles. You can do this once in 6 months.
