Title: The Puppeteer’s Resonance
Gallery Note
This striking composition presents a sophisticated dialogue between the tactile weight of industrial relief and the narrative fluidity of Indian folk traditions. At the center, two musicians—rendered with a high-relief bronze patina—command the space, their forms bridging the gap between realistic human portraiture and sculptural abstraction. One figure holds a string instrument with focused intensity, while the other masterfully manipulates a traditional puppet, suggesting a profound connection between the creator, the performer, and the medium.
The background serves as a secondary narrative layer, utilizing the vibrant, rhythmic motifs of Madhubani and Rajasthani folk art. This flat, illustrative border—populated by peacocks, stylized flora, and village scenes—frames the central metallic figures, creating a temporal tension between the ancient origins of these stories and a modernist, Constructivist approach to geometry.
By isolating the subjects against a series of angular, interlocking bronze planes, the work deconstructs the traditional folk environment, reassembling it as a monumental tribute to cultural heritage. It is a synthesis of the folk and the formal, exploring how performance and craftsmanship endure through changing artistic languages.
