This painting was born from a quiet devotion to the eternal romance of Radha and Krishna — reimagined not as mythology, but as a living, breathing feeling.
I worked the canvas with heavy impasto, building up the lotus-moon petals layer by layer until they rose from the surface like a low relief. Scraped metallic gold pigment was worked across the ornaments and petal edges to catch light from different angles, giving the painting an almost sacred glow at night.
The palette — soft lilac, celestial blue, antique gold, blush pink, and pearl white — was chosen to evoke the hour just before moonrise, when the sky holds both warmth and mystery. Krishna's blue skin was layered wet-on-wet to achieve depth, while Radha's ivory drapery was dry-brushed for softness.
The rough weave of the canvas shows through the background intentionally — it adds an earthy, handmade quality that grounds the dreamlike subject. The composition draws the eye upward toward the glowing lotus moon, making the divine couple feel both intimate and cosmic.
