This portrait began with energy — the kind that builds when bold, gestural brushwork meets a subject full of quiet intensity. I worked with thick impasto layering across the face and background, letting the palette knife and bristle brush create raw texture that catches light differently from every angle.
The color palette is deliberately unrealistic — cobalt blues, cadmium yellows, burnt oranges, deep greens, and hot pinks fragment across the face like shards of stained glass. Rather than following natural skin tones, I let color do the emotional work. The round rose-tinted glasses became a compositional anchor, framing the eyes and drawing the viewer directly into her gaze.
Vertical drips of paint cascade through the background, giving the piece a sense of movement and urban rhythm. The hands, loosely rendered near the chin, add a contemplative quality. It is a painting about presence — a woman fully alive in color, thought, and feeling.
Ideally paintings don't require much care as its a vertical surface, hence dust doesn't settle quite easily. You can gently dry dust the painting once in a month. You can also gently use a slightly damp cloth and dab it gently over the surface to capture the dust particles. You can do this once in 6 months.
