This painting was a pure pleasure to create — a celebration of alpine summer at its most generous. The foreground is the most detailed and tactile area of the canvas, where I painted clusters of pink and white daisies with short, precise strokes in rose, magenta, titanium white, and cadmium yellow at their centers. The surrounding grasses and wildflower stems are handled with lively, directional marks in olive, golden green, and pale straw, giving the meadow a natural, windswept energy.
Moving back through the composition, the valley floor opens into a broad, gently sloping field of vivid emerald and sage greens, with a faint winding path suggesting depth and inviting the viewer's eye inward. The pine forests on both flanking hillsides were built with layered strokes in deep forest green and teal, creating rich mid-ground texture.
The snow-capped Alpine peaks and their glacial flow between them are painted in cool whites, pale grey-blues, and silvery lavender, standing in beautiful contrast against the warm, living color of the foreground.
