Sattriya is the latest addition in the list of Indian classical dance forms.
This dance has originated from Villages of Majuli, in Assam.
Although, Sattriya got recognized as an Indian Classical Dance, on 15th November 2000, but like all other classical dance forms, this form of dance find its root from 'Natyasastra' by Bharamuni.
Sattriya was created initially by Shankardev as One act play or 'ANKHIA NAAT' as a worship ritual of Lord Krishna. This dance form was performed by the celibate monks of the SATTRA (Monasteries) of a Vaishnavite sect, known as 'Ekasarana Dharma'.
The Dress of Sattriya is Primarily coloured in white, or raw silk colour, with red blue or yellow motif on lt and made of Paat or Muga silk. Which comprising the dhoti, chadar and the paguri (turban) for male dances and ghuri, chadar and kanchi (waist cloth) for female dancers. The jewelleries are made of 'KESA SUN' or raw gold.
The background is inspired from the famous Kamakhya Temple of Assam.

You can also gently use a slightly damp cloth and dab it gently over the surface to capture the dust particles. You can do this once in 6 months.
